Charters of Despot Stefan to the Great Lavra Monastery

And I beseech whomever God shall appoint after me to be sovereign of the Serbian land, whether one of my kinsmen or someone else, that this small gift of mine, which I have donated for my many sins, remain (not only) undestroyed and unaltered but, what is more, also confirmed.

But if anyone should destroy or take away anything of what has been mentioned above, may the Lord God destroy such a one, and that, in this earthly life, his body, his lordship and his house, and in the life beyond the grave - his soul. And may his soul be joined not with the righteous but with those to whom the Lord said: "Depart from me, ye cursed, into the fire prepared for the devil and his angels!" [Mt. 25, 41], and may his soul be joined with those who blasphemed the Holy Spirit [Mt. 12, 31–32], and with Judas, the betrayer of the Lord.

By command of the lord of the Serbs, Despot Stefan, this chrysobull was written in the year 6935 (1427), indiction 5, on the 20th of the month of January.

By the grace of God lord of the Serbs, Despot Stefan

From a red cord hangs a seal of red wax with the inscription:

The right-believing and Christ-loving lord of the Serbs and of the Danube lands in Christ God, Despot Stefan.
